Dan Deciechi, DVM

Dan Deciechi, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Deciechi is a family practice veterinarian who also has extensive emergency/critical care experience. He earned his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering in the U.S. Naval Academy and served 9 years as a Naval Officer. During his naval education, Dr. Deciechi pursued scientific interests including orbital science and physics. He spent time with Naval special warfare, after which he served as a college physics instructor during his final tour in the Navy. After leaving the Navy, he earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University. He immediately pursued veterinary practice ownership and purchased his first veterinary practice 12 months after completion of veterinary school. Emergency surgical procedures and novel pharmaceutical developments were specific interests during practice ownership. After serving as the Medical Director for emergency veterinary practices for 10 years, he decided to return to family practice. He is a member of the AVMA and MVMA and considers fly-fishing, soccer and rugby among his favorite activities.

Veterinarian

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Shannon Skalecki to our clinic! A proud Michigan native and recent MSU graduate, Dr. Skalecki brings both her medical expertise and her deep-rooted love for our beautiful state to our team. Her favorite cases include Cardiology, Neurology, and Surgery, showcasing her diverse clinical interests and skills. Outside of work, she enjoys immersing herself in nature, watching movies, and spending weekends kayaking, boating, and fishing with her brother. At home, she shares her life with two charming cats named Ariel and Se. We are excited for you to get to know Dr. Skalecki and look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly make at our clinic.

Practice Manager / Veterinary Technician

Cord, a seasoned member of our team, joined us in May of 2018 as a Technician, bringing with him a wealth of invaluable experience. His journey in the animal field commenced at the young age of 15, and since then, he has honed his skills through extensive work in various daytime veterinary practices both locally and out of state. Cord’s expertise spans general veterinary care, emergency situations, and even specialized knowledge in neurology, reflecting his dedication to providing comprehensive and compassionate support for our furry companions. Beyond the clinic walls, Cord’s passions diversify into the outdoors; he takes pleasure in nurturing greenery, evident in his fondness for gardening and greenhouse activities. His love for animals extends beyond the professional sphere, seamlessly blending with his personal interests. Cord finds joy in camping, fostering a connection with nature and the great outdoors. His multifaceted experiences and affinities make Cord an integral part of our team.

Assistant Manager/Veterinary Technician

Tricia seamlessly transitioned into our team in September 2018, initially stepping into the role of a receptionist. Armed with a wealth of customer service experience, she found joy in interfacing with the public, embodying a welcoming presence at our front desk. Over time, Tricia’s passion for animal care led her to broaden her responsibilities, and she now serves as a dedicated technician, overseeing the well-being of animals and monitoring them with precision during surgical procedures. Beyond the clinic, Tricia’s days off are marked by creativity and quality time with her loved ones. Her penchant for crafts showcases a flair for the artistic, while her cherished moments are spent alongside her husband and son, creating a balanced tapestry of professional dedication and personal fulfillment in her journey with us.

Suzette is a graduate of the Veterinary Technology program at Baker College, earning her degree as a licensed veterinary technician in 2004. She has been working at Fohey Veterinary Hospital since June 2004.

Caleb, an industrious and versatile assistant, possesses a unique blend of interests that enrich both his professional and personal pursuits. Outside the confines of his office duties, Caleb finds joy in the immersive realm of video gaming, where he navigates virtual landscapes and engages in thrilling adventures. However, his passions extend beyond the digital realm, as he discovers tranquility in the vibrant colors of blooming flowers and the earthy scent of soil. Caleb is not only an avid gamer and a green-thumb enthusiast but is also on an educational journey towards becoming a future veterinarian. Currently attending school, he aspires to channel his love for animals into a fulfilling career, combining his nurturing nature with a commitment to the well-being of furry companions.

Beyond her professional demeanor, she is an avid enthusiast of various interests that reflect her vibrant personality. In her free time, Melanie immerses herself in the world of crafting, where she skillfully weaves creativity into every project. Her love for feline companionship is evident, as she finds solace and joy in the company of cats. Family holds a special place in Melanie’s heart, and she cherishes moments spent with loved ones. Whether casting a line by a tranquil lake or capturing the beauty of nature through the lens of her camera, Melanie finds peace in fishing and photography, respectively. With a multifaceted array of interests, Melanie embodies a delightful balance of professionalism and passion in both her work and personal life.
